Ap environmental science population articles

Summary:
The world's population is thought to have hit seven billion on October 31, 2011 but possibly could have already happened or not happened yet. There is no way to know for sure when the seven billion mark will be reached but the United Nations picked the last day of the month as the symbolic date. Knowing how many people inhabit the Earth is important for many statistics and characteristics used by the government and to know where our potential trouble spots are. We need to know and study the effects of such a massive population on the earth. There is growing discomfort involving the governments ability to deal with the growing debt. Reaching seven billion causes many questions about how our population will affect future generations. Many challenges involving population include availability of jobs, growth of cities, loss of the Earth's resources, and improving education. We need to study and be aware of the population in order to know what it takes to maintain a planet in which everyone has a chance for a full productive life with promise of a future. Every individual person needs food, water and energy, and produces waste and pollution that impacts the planet.

Response:
This article taught me the importance of knowing how population impacts the world. This article is parallel to other articles I have read about the impact of population and the importance of studying it. Another perspective on this topic could be someone who believed humans are divine creatures who have the right to live how they please. I am against this perspective because i believe that in order for humans to continue thriving we need to preserve and protect the planet that hosts us.
