An Arkansas vehicle bill of sale (Form 10-313) records the transfer of ownership of a vehicle from one party to another.
When you buy a vehicle in Arkansas, you need a bill of sale to register the transfer with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The bill of sale will contain the name of the seller and buyer, the purchase price, and vehicle details, including the current odometer reading.
Both the buyer and the seller are required to sign the document.
If the vehicle is newer than 2011, under 16,000 pounds, and self-propelled, you must include the Odometer Reading on the Bill of Sale form.
After buying a vehicle in Arkansas, you must register the transaction within 30 days from the purchase or transfer date. The same time frame applies to new residents who just moved to Arkansas.
While a bill of sale is not required in Arkansas, you may need it to prove vehicle ownership in certain situations.
Register your vehicle in person with the Office of Motor Vehicle (OMV). You can also complete the registration online via MyDMV without going to their physical location if it is a new vehicle. If you register online, title documents will be mailed once the documents are received.
Vehicle registration renewals can be completed online as well.
