Request Signal Timing Information

Current traffic signal timings are timings that are currently in effect at a signalized intersection for all periods. Current signal timings cannot be presented as evidence in a court of law. Current timings are normally requested by the following:

A request for current signal timings must contain intersection location and the name of person or corporation requesting the information

The request must be emailed with the subject line “Request for Information.” Do not include debit/credit card information in the email request. Fee

Historical traffic signal timings show the operations that were in effect at a signalized intersection on a specific date/period/time within the past fifteen years. Since historical signal timings can be presented in a court of law, the City undertakes a rigorous check of traffic control system logs, signal timing logs and maintenance records before the data is provided. Fee

The City maintains a drawing for each signalized intersection. Some drawings may not be up-to-date so the City will provide the latest version that is on file.

Fee

Any personal information you submit is collected under the authority of the City of Toronto Act, 2006, s. 136(c), and By-law No. 204-2008. The information is used to process your request and will not be used for any other purposes.

The public can request Current Signal Timing, Historical Signal Timing and Signalised Intersection Drawings on payment of the requisite fees. These records cannot be provided under a Freedom of Information (FOI) request. Under City by-laws, City staff are authorised to provide these records for a fee. The authority to charge the fee is enshrined in items 104, 105 and 108 of the Toronto Municipal Code, Chapter 441, Fees and Charges, Appendix C – Schedule 2, Transportation Services.
